Sheriff Johnson was left with no choice but to arrest/detain/apprehend the Top Gear presenters, who were charged/cited for/accused of several traffic violations/misdemeanors/infractions.
As for the cars? Well, let's just say that they weren't in perfect condition/pristine/showroom ready when they left town.
